You know how it goes a stressful week at work, hectic family life, hormones and emotions are out of balance and that breakout or bad skin day inevitably follows.

And while it would be near-impossible to banish stress from our lives completely, trying to manage it and the effects it has on our skin is far more realistic than attempting to stop or reverse the effects. Statistics show that 85% of UK adults suffer from anxiety or stress so it’s no wonder that an increasing number of us are seeking products that manage the negative effects on skin.

Every day, the average woman applies 515 synthetic chemicals to her body. Products like shampoos, hairsprays, body lotions, deodorants, makeup, and even perfumes contain these harmful chemicals. Linked to a large number of health problems, they cause everything from skin irritation and allergic reactions to far more serious health concerns.

There is a lot of research regarding these chemicals, but companies continue to use these dangerous toxins because they are cheap and there are often no laws restricting them (yet).

Using the Essential Skincare, HD Clear or the Veráge Skincare Ranges means you’ll know exactly what’s in them, with no ingredients hidden behind the words “perfume/parfume/fragrance”.  Just gorgeous essential oils like Frankincense, Lavender, Hawaiian Sandalwood to name a few of our favourites.

If you love a simple skincare routine, then here’s a couple of suggestions;

For cleansing skin, use fractionated coconut oil with a few drops of essential oil added, rub into your skin and then remove with a clean, warm flannel. You can make up a 30ml bottle with 30-40 drops of your favourite oil, top up with fractionated coconut and you’re good to go. Great oils for cleansing include; Geranium, Sandalwood, Frankincense and Green Mandarin.

For moisturising skin,  use 2 -3 drops of Yarrow Pom (what I like to call, my wonder oil!) with a drop of Geranium oil addd to it, this works as a fantastic moisturiser, leaving skin feeling hydrated & plump. Geranium helps balance excess oil production. For extra oomph then add some Frankincense as it’s fab for more mature skin, wrinkles and scars.

The FDA also notes that fragrance blends are responsible for up to 30% of all allergic reactions to skincare products.
